The regular season may be over, but there is still plenty of baseball for the NYAA All Star teams who begin practicing this week. Teams from all age groups will participate in the USSSA Sub-State tournament June 13-16 and then the State tournament June 20-23. FALL REGISTRATION

For those of us who can't get enough --> baseball and softball registration for the fall season will start online August 1st and in person each Saturday in August at the Rec Center and Dick's Sporting Goods. Projected season start date is September 7th.

Over 600 people from the NYAA will be going to the Braves/Dodgers game Friday night May 17th. All players and coaches who want to participate in the pregame parade should wear their team jerseys and caps and line up at the Hank Aaron ramp by 6:15 pm. Closing ceremonies will be held immediately after the completion of the Thursday Championship games (approx 7:45 pm) on Field 6. Trophies and medals will be presented to 1st and 2nd place season champs and 1st and 2nd playoff champs. Also, special recognition trophies for all T-Ball teams will be presented.

Congratulations to the top seeds and those teams who won Saturday and are advancing to the second round on Monday. All games are now posted under the SCHEDULES link. After Monday's games, the playoffs continue with semi-finals on Tuesday for 6U and 8U and then the finals for 6U, 8U, 10U and 12U all at 5:45 pm Thursday followed by the NYAA closing ceremonies on Field #6 at approx 7:45 pm where trophies and medals will be awarded.

Round two match ups will be posted late Saturday and played Monday and Tuesday next week.

There will be a huge contingent from the NYAA at the Braves / Dodgers game on Friday May 17th. Over 500 tickets were sold raising about $2,000 for the league. Thanks to all. You will have a great time at the game and walking on Turner Field in the pre-game festivities and our league president has guaranteed a home team win.

If you are one of those 500 going to the game, tickets will be available starting Monday May 13 for pickup at the ballpark. Details will be posted online with specific time/location.

The division playoffs for baseball will start on Saturday May 11th. Seeding is based on each teams Won/Loss season record. The final seeding is already known in some age groups but others are too close to call until the final few games are played. Most every team will be playing except for the top seeds in each age group who will have a first round bye.

UPDATE: The final standings is what determines which teams will play each other and in some divisions it's just too close to determine until Wednesday and Thursday games are decided. Most teams will play between 9:00 am and noon except 8U which will play some games later.

6U - All teams will play Saturday at either 9:00 am, 10:30 or 12:00 except the #1 and #2 seeds

8U - All teams will play Saturday at either 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30 or 3:00 pm except the #1 and #2 seeds

10U - All teams will play Saturday at either 11:00 am or 3:00 pm except the #1 seed

12U - All teams will play Saturday at 9:00 am or 1:00 pm except the #1 seed (Saturday schedule posted)

The Semi-Finals will be played on Monday and Tuesday (May 13/14) and the Finals on Thursday May 16th. Closing ceremonies and trophy/medal presentations for the Spring 2013 Baseball Season will take place after the finals on Field #6 Thursday evening. All teams are invited to participate.

Rec Baseball Coaches:

Please note there have been some schedule adjustments for most teams in May. To accommodate the NYAA post season playoffs, GA USSA Area Tournaments and All Star Tournaments – as well as graduation ceremonies at elementary, middle and high schools - the games originally scheduled for the week of May 13 have been moved to earlier dates in May.

Please check your online schedules for these updates and advise your parents immediately. (no changes were made to softball, travel team or inter-league schedules).

The final retake session for team and individual photos is Thursday May 2 at the Pavilion next to the tennis courts. Any individual who missed getting pictures can come between 5:30 and 6:00 pm, no appointment required.

Spring break and CRCT testing are over and the full NYAA spring schedule resumes starting Monday April 22. Coaches and Parents should check your remaining game schedule posted online to make sure you have the most current information. With all the rain-outs and rescheduled games many changes have been made. Just click on SCHEDULES link at the top of this page - select the current season and click on your age division.

RECREATION LEAGUE BASEBALL COACHES:

Reminder that All Star nominations are due by Friday April 19th.

Coaches should submit their All Star candidates (up to 4 per team) as soon as possible so that coaches can make a point to watch some of their games during the second half of the season. Once the regular season is over and the All Star coaches are known, they may decide to conduct all star try-outs, or they may just rely on their own scouting and other coaches recommendations. Please reply to players@nyaa.us with your ALL STAR NOMINEES and be sure to include the following: Players full name, date of birth, jersey #, positions played and any coach comments you would like to share about each player. Our league is managed by parent volunteers and we appreciate the time and energy it takes to run the organization. The 2013 NYAA Spring Baseball Season is about to get started! We’ve got a big line up of information and events to pass onto everyone. Please review this message carefully.

**Uniforms: Coaches will be picking up team uniforms Wednesday & Thursday and then distributing to team members.

** Game Schedules: The first week of the season including opening day, Saturday March 9th is now posted online. All rec teams will play on Saturday. Click on the SCHEDULES link at the top of the home page, then select the SPRING 2013 BASEBALL season, then select your age group. The rest of the season schedule will be posted soon. Please note: While we will do our best to not make schedule changes, they will happen. With rainouts and special situations you should remember to refresh the schedule to check for changes and updates.

**Team Pictures: Every team has been scheduled for team pictures on Opening Day Saturday, you can check your teams schedule by clicking: here.

***Friday Night Pep Rally: We’ll kick off the spring season with our annual Pep Rally at the old gym at Newnan High School Friday March 8th. Coaches and their players wearing their team jerseys (not hats) should meet in the parking lot by the old gym at 6:15 pm. Ceremonies start at 6:30 pm and will include the Parade of Teams, introduction of Board Members & Coaches and then games and relays with prizes, a $1 Raffle and more. Win Braves tickets, new cell phone and gift cards from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

This will be a great evening of family fun – so make sure you come early to help kick off the 49th year of year of NYAA baseball in Newnan!

Coaches: Just a reminder that the 2013 Coaches Clinic is this Saturday February 9th from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. (check in 7:45). Each team must send at least one coach representative and the $25 fee will be paid by the league. Additional coaches who wish to attend must pay the $25 fee.

Once the draft is completed, the coach of your child's team will contact you to introduce themselves and provide you with practice times which will start sometime during the week of February 4-10. Teams will practice for approximately one month to prepare for baseball opening day on Saturday March 9, 2013.

In-Person Registration is now closed. Online registration will remain open only until January 31, 2013 and any sign ups dated today or tomorrow are subject to space availability. Most teams are already filled and only a few spots remain.

Tryouts for the NYAA Spring 2013 season are scheduled for Saturday February 2, 2013.

If your child is already FROZEN to a team or plays for a TRAVEL team they do not need to attend tryouts. All other registered players should plan to attend and should be dressed in baseball attire. Each player will field a couple of ground balls and popups - make a few throws from shortstop to first, run the bases and hit off the T stand (all ages will use T). Coaches will be in attendance making their notes in advance of the spring draft which will be held February 4-7.

We will also have our ANNUAL SHOE & GLOVE EXCHANGE at the concession stand by Field #1. Please bring your old, but usable baseball cleats, baseball gloves, bats, etc-- and maybe someone else will be able to use them. You may also pick up something that your child may use. If your kids are like mine, they often outgrow baseball gear that is still in perfectly good shape and it just makes sense to "recycle" those shoes and gloves to other kids rather than spend money on new gear.

Everyone should now be able to view their own "Team Page" from their NYAA logins. From the "Home" tab, look under the "Actions" column and you will see 4 icons. First for uploading team pics, second icon to view "Team Home Page" and third icon to send email to all team members and once the regular season schedule is done, you can click on the "Calendar" icon to see your teams game schedule. When you click on "View Home Page" you will see a complete roster of your team along with your coaches names and contact information.

If you have a child playing in the league, you DO have an NYAA login. If you do not know your login, simply click on "forgot login" and your login credentials will be sent via email within seconds.

The game schedules for all divisions has been posted. Please click on the "Schedules" link at the top of the NYAA Home Page, then click on DIVISION (age group) you want to view. Please note that the schedule is subject to change from time to time due to rain-outs and coaches special requests.
