The NYAA, Newnan Youth Athletic Association (formerly Pony League) is a non-profit organization and has been in existence in Coweta County since 1964 and for the past 46 years has been the little league of Newnan. Over those many years, tens of thousands of young boys and girls have learned how to play baseball and now many of those same kids are parents with their own children playing in the NYAA.
NYAA Little league baseball -- where kids are taught the fundamentals of a great sport, experience being part of a team and benefit from coaches and organizers who volunteer their time to make a positive impact on Newnan youth. Our league starts with T-Ball at age 4 and has divisions for all age groups up to 14 year olds. Virtually every high school and college baseball player from Newnan got their start with NYAA - maybe you did too.
NYAA recently elected a new board of directors and one of our goals is to expand our reach to include more kids who may be "at risk" or "financially ineligible" to participate in baseball and have positive adult mentors in their life. We will be working with the elementary schools, churches and other organizations to identify these kids and offer them "scholarships" to play baseball this coming spring. These scholarships will be underwritten by private business, foundations and individuals who are NYAA sponsors.
The NYAA is establishing an Advisory Board made up of business and civic leaders who support our objectives and would be willing to help us with their influence as we start our Sponsorship Drive next month. In plain terms, we want you to help us recruit new sponsors. The members of the NYAA Advisory Board will be listed on the NYAA website and in promotional materials for prospective sponsors.
As a non-profit organization, there are no salaries, no wages, commissions or payments of any kind to board members. We are all un-paid volunteers working toward a common objective to provide the youth of Newnan with coaching and mentoring that participation in little league baseball offers.
We welcome your input and invite you to participate as an NYAA volunteer, please write to us at information@nyaa.us.
President NYAA
